Valona and the Albanian Riviera: connections with Italy and what is changing

Sea links with Puglia, the status of Valona airport, Italian visitor numbers and the official Marea Coast project facts.

Connections with Italy

The Brindisi–Valona ferry crossing takes between 4.5 and 10 hours, with up to three departures per day in summer.

Valona airport

Valona International Airport completed its certification flight on 8 May 2025. Its commercial opening was postponed and no flights were scheduled for summer 2026; Tirana remained the main airport.

Italian visitors and the coastal market

Italians accounted for 13% of visitors in July 2026, ranking second after Kosovo, according to INSTAT data reported by Revista Kosovarja in September 2026.

The coast is driving the increase in Albanian housing prices, according to Bank of Albania data reported by CNA.

Marea Coast in the Bay of Valona

Marea Coast is located in Radhimë, in the Bay of Valona. The project covers 24,600 m², with 74% dedicated to green and common areas, a swimming pool and underground parking. Buildings P2 to P6 are for sale, with the price list available on this website.
