Residential ownership, agricultural land, registration and rental taxation: the main points to verify before buying.

What foreign citizens can buy

Foreign citizens can buy apartments, houses and residential property in Albania. Agricultural land of more than 1,000 m² can only be purchased through a company registered in Albania.

Notary and registration

The purchase is formalised before a notary and registered with ASHK, the Albanian State Cadastre Agency.

Rental taxation

Rental income is taxed at a fixed rate of 15%.

Checks before signing

Before proceeding, the title, permits and contract should be checked with an independent Albanian lawyer or notary.
